ASan hardened TBBs for Linux x86-64

Hi, I am happy to announce the first TBBs that are built with Address Sanitizer (ASan) hardening. See: https://code.google.com/p/address-sanitizer/wiki/AddressSanitizer for some material explaining what it does and what it defends against. These builds are nightlies and currently available for 64bit Linux systems. I've uploaded one to https://people.torproject.org/~gk/testbuilds/asan/20140521/ If there are builds needed in different locales let me know. 3.6.1-meek-1 bundles

Please try these 3.6.1-meek-1 bundles, built on top of 3.6.1 that was released a few days ago. These are getting quite close to a release candidate. https://people.torproject.org/~dcf/pt-bundle/3.6.1-meek-1/ Unlike previous bundles I've sent for testing, these ones aren't configured to use meek automatically. You have to "Configure" on the network settings screen and then choose meek from the list of transports. I made screenshots of the process: https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/doc/meek#Quickstart I prepared a rebased merge branch with just a few commits on top of 3.6.1. https://gitweb.torproject.org/user/dcf/tor-browser-bundle.git/shortlog/refs… https://gitweb.torproject.org/user/dcf/tor-browser-bundle.git/commitdiff/me… These bundles still have the bug on OS X where two dock icons appear (https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/11429). If anyone knows a way to fix it, let me know. We had a report that repeated timeouts in the 3.5.4-meek-1 bundles caused boostrapping to take hours (https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/11612). I increased some of the timeouts in response, but if you have the same problem, please comment on the ticket. David Fifield

Test latest nightlies on Windows XP

Hi, while testing the nightlies is always good, if you still happen to have Windows XP lying around your help is especially welcome this time. We have restructured the way the Windows bundles are built (this is essentially the Windows related part of #10120) which landed some days ago. The big question is now: Do the Windows bundles still work on Windows XP? A test would be extracting a bundle, starting it and trying to load some websites. If that still works everything is fine. TBB 3.6.1 (Proxy settings regression fix)

We're doing a pointfix release on 3.6 to fix a regression where users were unable to set proxy settings for normal Tor usage. Builds are at: https://people.torproject.org/~gk/builds/3.6.1/ Testing proxied configuration of Tor would be especially helpful for this release. Making sure the Pluggable transports still work without proxies is also helpful. We still don't support the combination of Pluggable Transports + Proxies. We hope to have that in the next release. Automated tests run on new releases and emails

Hello, Starting from now, when a new build for a new release is available, the test suite will be run automatically, and the results sent to this mailing list. They are also published on this page: https://people.torproject.org/~boklm/tbbtests/ The detection of new builds works like this: - the most recent signed tag on the master branch on builders/tor-browser-bundle.git is used to find the current version that needs testing - the build directory of the tbb builders (currently this is 'mikeperry', 'gk', 'linus', 'erinn', 'boklm'. Let me know if someone needs to be added to that list) on people.tpo is scanned to find if the version is available. - the 5 first letters of the sha256sum of the sha256sums.txt file is used as a build identifier. The same build is not tested twice. When a new build is uploaded by someone, the sha256sums.txt and build identifier change, so the tests are run again. The tests are run on all the platforms the test suite supports (currently a few Linux distributions, soon Windows and later Mac OS X). Because of these changes that I'm pushing now, the tests on current 3.6 version will be run again (although that version is already released) and results sent here. There are sometimes some false positives in the tests: - in the 'check' test, this error: NoSuchElementException: Message: u'Unable to locate element: {"method":"css selector","selector":"h1.on"}' It might be because check sometimes think we are not using tor when we are. - sometimes the https-everywhere or https-everywhere-disabled tests fail because of a timeout while loading the http page we expect https-e will redirect to https (currently http://www.mediawiki.org/ is used in the tests). I'm going to try to remove those false positive errors, but for now they should be ignored. The test results on new releases are sent to this mailing list, but the tests results on the nightly builds are sent only to Georg, Mike and me (starting today).
