Analytics Data?

Is there any analytics data for the current site such as google analytics? Having this data will help prioritize the features that get developed. It's always very difficult to rebuild every feature in the MVP when replacing a website. The MVP should have only the most important ie most used features. Too often people assume what the most important features are when the analytics show otherwise. Some features are obvious (download tor) but priorities can get less clear quickly. The analytics make it much easier to focus on the right things for MVP. Sent from my iPhone

A Novice Take On **Markdown**

As a non-coder, I sat down this morning to learn more about Markdown. I can read html and css, though would be hard-pressed to create a valid document if given a blank page in a text editor. I use Wordpress and Joomla and can edit those template files on my Mac in Coda and BBEdit. (I mention this just to let you know where I'm coming from.) I have little interest in what is happening behind the front end. It's just a tool for me to share information with my family, friends, company, and world. I like what I write to look nice--like what I see on professional web sites. When I edit files I am constantly flipping back and forth between html and WYSIWYG view to make sure things look as they exists in my minds' eye. My first thought is that, were someone not currently familiar with Markdown to come to the Tor site with an idea for an addition, the need to spend time (even though it's only a little time) to learn how to write Markdown does raise the *activation energy*, so to speak. Just a little bit of time on Google and I found an article titled [78 Tools for Writing and Previewing Markdown]( http://mashable.com/2013/06/24/markdown-tools/) I like the fact that there are tools that allow me to view the markdown and html result side by side. Providing this 'split view' type of editor to potential contributors would lower the activation energy for someone new to markdown. And this is where I really see the value of using a tool like Drupal on the front end if we simply think of it as a way for getting things into a database with a user-friendly front-end. Once in the database, we can use all sorts of plugins and tools to convert that content to static html files directly or to some intermediate format like Markdown and feed it to a static site generator like Jekyll. Site maintenance vs site use

It may be important to differentiate how the content for the site is *maintained* from how the site is *rendered* for the end-user. What I believe Jekyll does (and other tools like it--I used to use Userland Frontier for this), is allow one to maintain the content of the site as individual files (or a large flat file database like Frontier), but then allow the computer to do what computers are good at--all the relative links for navigation, for example, or using includes to add boilerplate. If you want to change the navigation on each and every page you could make the change in ONE place, re-render the site in HTML (or any markup language you like, for that matter), and publish it for users on a static server or to browse from their file system. -- Clark Venable

[IA] Sitemap for the current torproject.org?

I've been having a look at torproject.org and was wondering if an accurate sitemap exists for the current iteration? This would be useful in having an overview of the current structure and being able to see how and what existing content could be migrating to torproject.org 2.0. I've used a generic sitemap generator to help get my head around what's currently there though it's not very readable and I can't guarantee accuracy: https://gist.github.com/rey/8320798. First set of technical requirements

Hi! We already have a first set of technical requirements regarding software producing Tor website: * It should generate static web pages, ready to be mirrored by our network of more than 70 mirrors. * The content must be kept in a version control system. The website was kept in Subversion, but it should probably be migrated to Git. * It needs to support the “Don't Repeat Yourself” principle for the content, e.g. the latest version of the Tor Browser Bundle needs to be kept at a single place but used at different places in the website. * It needs to support translations. Website requirements and goals

Hey all I just bumped up the post on Hacker News about the website needing help. I am willing to assist and would like to get some high level information about the goals of this project. Tt also piqued my interest because the current site is done with Drupal and that is my area of expertise.
