Hello Tor Relay Operators, Do you want your relay to be a Tor fallback directory mirror? Will it have the same address and port for the next 2 years? Just reply to this email with your relay's fingerprint. If your relay is on the current list, you don't need to do anything. If you're asking: Q: What's a fallback directory mirror? Fallback directory mirrors help Tor clients connect to the network. For more details, see [1]. Q: Is my relay on the current list? Search [2] and [3] for your relay fingerprint or IP address and port: [2] is the current list of fallbacks in Tor. [3] is used to create the next list of fallbacks. Q: What do I need to do if my relay is on the list? Keep the same IP address, keys, and ports. Email tor-relays if the relay's details change. Q: Can my relay be on the list next time? We need fast relays that will be on the same IP address and port for 2 years. Reply to this email to get on the list, or to update the details of your relay. Once or twice a year, we run a script to choose about 150-200 relays from the potential list [3] for the list in Tor [2]. Q: Why didn't my relay get on the list last time? We check a relay's uptime, flags, and speed [4]. Sometimes, a relay might be down when we check. That's ok, we will check it again next time. It's good to have some new relays on the list every release. That helps tor clients, because blocking a changing list is harder. Q. I already have a relay in the fallback list, can I add another? We will pick up to 7 relays per operator to be in the fallback list. Please send any relays that you would like considered for the fallback list. Configuring relay

I am running the latest version on Tor 8.0.3 on my Windows desktop. I would like to run a non-exit relay 24/7 and I'm having trouble finding the step-by-step process to do so. Before I could just copy amd paste the torrc configuration text in the torrc file. It seems that has changed because now Tor won't run properly when I change the torrc file.

I do wonder why 2 exit relays (at the same IP address) dropped down from about 8,000 connections to about 1,000 connections after exactly 1 month + 2 hours after they were installed. Furthermore metrics.t.o shows: IPv4 Exit Policy Summary reject 1-65535 It is a hardened Gentoo with LibreSSL, no changes to torrc AFAICT. FWIW I do use offline keys here (for the first time) with a lifetime of 3 months. Bridge Relay Internet Speed Much Slower Than Actual Internet Speed

Hello List, my bridge relay at https://metrics.torproject.org/rs.html#details/148BD64BED9F2C27637D986DE032… Is reporting the relay speed is between 50 kb/s and 60 kb/s, when the speed of the internet connection it is running off of is actually much faster than this, generally about 50mbps (the relay is running on a home internet connection, where the isp is Charter Communications / Spectrum). As a result, I have the “fast” flag on/off randomly. I do not want my bridge to suck up a huge amount of my internet speed, but why would the tor software report relay speed that is so much slower than the speed of the internet connection it runs off of? Any thoughts are appreciated, thank you.

Monitoring exit node traffic by port?

Greetings fellow relay operators, Do you monitor outbound traffic from your relays by port? I run an exit node relay from my house allowing only "safe ports" that are not likely to generate complaints and I would like to keep an eye on how much traffic is coming from the Tor network through those ports to the Internet. It's in Brussels at the beginning of February, so it's within easy-ish range of the French / Dutch / Luxembourg torservers partners. when do dead "Alleged Family Members" disappear?

In the past I've shortly ran a relay that I have shut down because of performance issues[1]. But even after a month now it still appears as an "alleged family member" on the Tor metrics website with the relay that I'm still operating[2]. Since the peer is gone for over a month now and won't be coming back, I wonder when it stops appearing as an alleged family member on the metrics page? Why is my relay dying?

I am running on Google Fiber and have set: RelayBandwidthRate 52000 KBytes RelayBandwidthBurst 104000 KBytes The spike in January is when I switched out some bad equipment. There were a couple of outages in late Feb/Mar for a few hours each, and then some (usually monthly) restarts since. I also at one point tried to add a Family Member which I have since removed. Other than that, there haven't been any changes to my setup. Aside from the addition, then removal of the family member, my torrc configuration hasn't changed since starting over a year ago. Any thoughts? I'd like to be more useful to the community,

Running relay on vmware ? is it secure to use Tor on virtual systems ?

Hi, is it secure to run Tor Relay / Tor browser on Vmware ? On my Windows 10 desktop I have installed VMware Player where is running Ubuntu. I`m using that system to browse internet using Tor Browser. Is it secure to use Tor browser on virtual systems ? Cheers DLugasny
