Tor talk at Toronto Public Library

Hi, I am giving a Tor talk (introduction to Tor and Tor Browser demo) at the Toronto Public Library (Northern District Branch) tomorrow as part of the Data Privacy Day event. Colin's status update

Hi all, Sorry for missing the community meeting today, here is the status update I would have given: 1. I performed a number of tests on Transifex with the new files from Lektor to make sure the support portal will be translatable. 2. I spent much of last week working on our GSoC application, and has of Tuesday this week the Tor Project has successfully applied for GSoC 2018! 3. I started review of the relay operator manual 4. I’ve started collecting and compiling ideas / mentors for GSoC 2018 5. I answered some tickets on RT 6. I’ve started writing a complete guide for translators on how to get involved 7. I’ve started writing a complete guide for our developers on how to get strings translated 8. Started figuring out details regarding my travel to Rome 10. I’m 2/3 of the way through updating the screenshots and language in the Tor Browser user manual to match Tor Browser 7.5. As of yesterday, the Tor Browser manual has an “alpha” deployment which we can work with (Thanks Weasel!), and in the future we can stage changes there instead of waiting for a bundle to become stable. Tor talks in India

Hi, I will be at two Tor talks in India this week. 1. Alternative Law Forum, Bangalore (Friday, Jan 19) http://altlawforum.org/ >From the website ALF was started in March, 2000, by a collective of lawyers with the belief that there was a need for an alternative practice of law. We recognize that a practice of law is inherently political. We are committed to a practice of law which will respond to issues of social and economic injustice. Over the past few years ALF has grown from being a legal service provider to becoming a space that integrates alternative lawyering with critical research, alternative dispute resolution, pedagogic interventions and more generally maintaining sustained legal interventions in various social issues. This is a public event open to other NGOs as well. I will be talking about Tor and general digital security and privacy. 2. Mumbai Tor meet-up and User Testing session, Mumbai (Saturday, Jan 20) Antonela and I will be at a Tor talk + user testing session in Mumbai. Unfortunately, it looks like there is nobody who can approve the translations. Is it possible to get this permission somewhere?
