I have a rooted Samsung S3 with CM 11 4.4.4 nightly build and would like to know exactly how to get the best for everyone involved on the network. My problem seems to be ram capacity and have tried every which way to improve that. Nothing seems to work as it has under 1 Gig of ram. How do I configure this for the best and not piss other users off. My binary skills are none too great but I'm willing to learn and am open to harsh comments to get me on my way. I'm quite a newbee at this and open to criticism.....
Not sure exactly what you're asking here, but I know for a fact that the Samsung galaxy s3 has 2GB of RAM...

It's under 1 Gig mate. Think you are thinking of the S4....... On 16 Aug 2014 18:30, "IceFish ThreeTwo" < threehundredthirtytwofishes@gmail.com> wrote:

Yes. It's not enough ram and I'm stumped about what to do about it. The CM 11 ROM will not allow RAM swap. Not sure what else to do. Love the phone apart from that....
Hmm. Well I was an android for a number of years until a few weeks ago when I switched to iPhone, so I might be some help. What exactly are you trying to do that there's not enough RAM for?

Well put it this way, no matter what i do, at best i can manage just under 700 mb of ram out of the total 832 mb on offer. If i try to get involved in the orbot relay it's better off not trying and just sticking to a transparent proxy through root. 832 mb is just not enough over all and ram swap won't work on the CM 11 rom i have. Love the S3 and don't want an upgrade. Unless i can do something about the ram situation. It's dire!!

Well, depending on how much world wide connectivity you're willing to sacrifice you could purchase an American S3 which have just under 2GB of RAM and a higher clocked processor. I think the S3 is one of the few phones where the international version is actually lower spec than the American locked one.

I've got For on my laptop too and try my best..........Honest. Just don't want to do the opposite and noise people up by fucking things up. As in being annoying. Binary was never my thing and fear just blindly dabbling. This is why I'm asking so many stupid fucking questions. I mean, I'm a T total, non smoking , vegetarian , recently divorced Scotsman! Go easy, I might as well be born again. Born again fucking virgin anyways!!!! ;) On 16 Aug 2014 21:54, "IceFish ThreeTwo" < threehundredthirtytwofishes@gmail.com> wrote:

Am i correct in understanding you are trying to run a relay on a phone?
Unless this phone is on a stable (wifi) connection, this would effectively be the same as running a relay on a dialup connection.....
Greets!

Alright Nils I'm no bright spark and have only come to my senses over the past 4 years since stopping drinking. I feel like I've just been let out of a fucking box and just realised how oblivious to life alcohol had made me. The oblivion was bliss but when you've been resuscitated twice with a liver like a string vest, it's time to man up and start learning...............No matter how late!!!! :)
