Content creators don't have to know any html, they write markdown in a text file with a bit of frontmatter at the top of the page to set-up tags / categories and the like. And, I'm guessing that people who are interested in becoming content creators for a technical project like Tor are pretty likely to be good with frontmatter and be happy to work in a text editor. As a developer, I agree that writing straight html would be nice. But there are a lot of content writers in the world that just don’t know it well enough.
