Hello Everyone
I wrote a bash script helping maintaining the MyFamily string in torrc.
The idea is to have one single file with all relay nicknames and there fingerprints and generate the MyFamily string uniquely for every node in the family.
You will find a copy here: https://github.com/ryru/myfam
If you like a bit more background check out: https://blog.addere.ch/2017/07/13/myfam-a-utility-helping-you-maintaining-yo...
Hope this helps anyone!
cheers pascal

Self referencing isn't nasty flaw, it helps users prevent errors by simply listing all their nodes. Also sensible was to sort the entire string such as by '| sort' on unix. Both which can help downstream eyes and parsers.
Here's another util MyFamily setters should run on their descriptors: egrep '^family ' | egrep -v '^family( $[a-zA-Z0-9]{40})+$' && echo fixme
There was many threads about MyFamily on list below recently.
Since Tor Project does not admin well to provide good true raw useful archives to import into your MUA, you have to fetch and concat the mailman poorly autoredacted months manually :( After that you can search threads easier.
