This is interesting but potentially clouding.  However, mapping 
unfamiliar things to familiar things is an effective approach.

But so is explaining the tools as they truly are, which might encourage 
more thoughtful development as, in theory, things should not *need* 
stand-ins for comprehension.

Mapping the threat models to people in their lives might be an effective 
way to introduce the concepts, since those contexts are what drive the 
selection of one slider setting over another, and what often drive the 
overall development of security tools; many use the same, or similar, 
personas to design around/for.
