# Status report for January 2015

- Worked with Rob Jansen for making shadow work with LTTng to measure HS
  performance using large scale experiment with shadow.

- Brainstorm ideas for mutli process Tor (side project) along with other
  people.
  --> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GSk3yyXVS12QD3LwQ9NyGr0r6t0Z1uzadXF8NDOwYeY/edit?pli=1#gid=0

- Did an initial review of prop241.
  --> https://gitweb.torproject.org/torspec.git/tree/proposals/241-suspicious-guard-turnover.txt

- Attended and worked on results and slides for SponsorR quarterly meeting
  on Jan 12th to 16th 2015 in Washington DC.

  All in all, the sponsor was pleased with Tor and with the results
  presented on the hidden service statistics.

  Work for this quarter until next meeting in April (roadmap) can be found
  here (not only me but all SponsorR work)
  --> https://etherpad.mozilla.org/LDiWZpI1sz-roadmap

- Bug review on Torsocks and merged some patches from contributors.

  Release coming soon!

- Listened in the PM interviews over the phone on Wed 21st. Was also on the
  round2 interviews last week of January for the last 3 candidates.

- Discussion started on the next round of HS stats we wish to implement and
  deploy by default or not.

- Worked on a HS health measurement tool. Basic idea here is to be able to
  measure the relay churn against HSDir descirptor fetch, if it has a
  considerable impact, are the timings good (for upload/fetch)? etc...

  Preliminary work for now, bit of code here and there and design documents.

- Ticket work:

  Patch:

  #13483: rend_consider_services_upload() sets initial next_upload_time
  which is clobbered when first intro point established?
  #14184: Control port command "getinfo entry-guards" return all guards with
  the "up" state
  #14202: Remove obsolete workaround from dirserv_thinks_router_is_hs_dir()
  #14391: Refactor rend_cache_lookup_entry()
  #14451: Use "socket:/path/to/socket" syntax everywhere for AF_UNIX ports
  #14554: Possible infinite loop on pipe_drain()
  #14556: Add basic I/O syscall wrappers

  Review/Work:

  #9682: Better work queue implementation for cpuworkers
  #9819: Circuits through entry guards aren't distinguished on whether they
  originated locally
  #11485: support unix-sockets as hidden-service endpoints
  #12464: When Tor 0.2.6.x is closer to done, profile relays running Tor
  0.2.6.x and optimize accordingly
  #12890: Design and implement optimizations for socket write limits
  #13339: Merge GSoC project - Consensus Diffs
  #14056: IPredator complains that we call time() too much when running
  over 500Mbps
  #14084: Configuration option for anti-hs-portscanning
