Dear Tor relay operators, We have recently received a good rate of participation by relay operators to our measurement project. To give everyone an idea of the current participation rate we have hosted a live scoreboard of all our participants, available at http://128.174.241.211:443/relay_scoreboard
The live scoreboard highlights all the IPs from which we received traceroute results along with the current status of the script running in their machine. The live scorebaord also summarizes the participation by the top Tor Families and the top guard and exit relays.
We thank all the relay operators who have participated and hope more relay operators will participate soon.
Thanks
Anupam
Dear Anupam and list members,
Just made a count and the sad truth is that 35 out of 167 systems in total completed the task ending with a regular slash24-220.scamper entry. Thats even worse than i expected and way more completed test results are necessary...

That is somewhat disappointing. I am in the process of upgrading one server to FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE and awaiting permission from the security dept. of my VPS to run the traceroute project. When the upgrade has completed I will begin the task on that relay and if permission is granted from my VPS provider I will also run it on my VPS.
Hi!

I am just wondering: My understanding is, that the webpage also shows "work in progress". Maybe I missed something, but on my system (idkneitzel, 81.7.11.129) the process is still running and the results inside Traceroute-results/ are still growing and up to date.
And I am running a tor node on a low end system so from what I read I wouldn't expect the job to finish the work in less than a day (just started yesterday evening after receiving a reply from my provider).
If there is something wrong then I am willing to do more investigations. Right now I would expect that everything works as it should.
With kind regards,
Konrad
Hy dear mailing list Traceroute maintainers.
At the moment three relays are doing the traceroutescript with scamper. All of them started yesterday evening, somewhat 24hours ago.
Listed down in below you find some outputs, maybe these are helpful.

All
Before starting this (given the Hetzner experiences), I checked with my VPS provider (DigitalOcean) that they were happy. They have said that they see no problem, and even if they do later spot an issue they will take no precipitate action because of my prior alert to them.
So. guard relay 0xbaddad now has the script running.

Few question Anupam, 1) is that only for relays that are in the relay-ips.txt file, what about relays setup after?
2) I think I have sent the results for first phases few days ago but I can't see my relay on the scoreboard. 3) At the moment I am in the middle of the last phase, I think:
bash-3.2$ ls Traceroute-results/ slash24-1390159273-xxx-95.ips slash24-1390159273-xxx-95.scamper
Unfortunately my system was offline for 10h with scamper still running during that phase... should I restart?
Thanks, -mateusz
Hi Mateusz, If there wasn't any network connection then the script would not give the right traceroutes even though the script will still run (with empty traceroute results). So if it is not too much of a trouble please restart the script and please make sure that the network is accessible during the runtime of the script.
Thanks for cooperation.

I think that 1000pps is by default too much, especially if all these packets are supposed to hit routers' cpu. That in my opinion is the reason you are seeing a lot of incomplete traceroutes in your study so far.
I will re-run my scamper after it completes the last phase.

Would you mind answering my first 2 questions?

1) To simplify the script, we only contact those relays in the .txt file. We'll try to push out an update to take into account new relays.
2) Can you let us know the IP address you are running from? You can email us directly at tor-traceroutes@illinois.edu if you don't want to send the IP to the list.
Thanks! - Nikita
