Hi All,
Relay Search has moved! It is no longer to be found at atlas.torproject.org (although a redirect is in place). The new home is at:
https://metrics.torproject.org/rs.html
If you prefer an onion service:

Thanks, Iain.

and I don't know why but it loads a lot faster to the point where you get to enter something into the search field.
can we keep relying on the atlas.tpo domain and redirect or will you kill atlas.tpo eventually?

This may be because assets are no longer duplicated across the two domains so if you already have the assets in your cache then you can just use them instead of fetching them twice.

Eventually it will be killed. A date for that has not yet been set, but it's something that we'd want to do in the next few months.
Thanks, Iain.

I guess there is nothing that I can do to convince you of keeping that domain online? :)

What does it break if it goes away?
We don't want to keep it around forever, but we also don't want to turn it off if there are some things that could be fixed keeping it on for another month or two.
The reason there's no date set at the moment is it's just not clear yet how many URLs need updating in documentation and other codebases.
Thanks, Iain.

I like to browse ornetstats' git history but I will manage without atlas.tpo

Everyone who has ever linked to a relay on a mailing list message, forum question, or in their bookmarks.
It also breaks muscle memory.

You will never be able to fix third-party links in a systematic way.
Why would you choose to break them? Does it take a lot of effort or resources to keep the redirect in place?

I don't understand why we can't just leave the redirect in place, and fix things gradually.

These are good reasons to wait a while before turning it off.

I've opened #25283 to discuss when (or if) we will be able to turn off the redirector. I've proposed that maybe we use webstats to determine when traffic to atlas.torproject.org has fallen to a level that we think is low enough. It's possible that there are many third-party links out there and we may not be able to turn it off for a while, but this is not a reason to not fix the links we can fix.
Thanks, Iain.
