Hello ! I have been hosting tor relay for 3 years and still have a version problem. Let me explain: at the installation of my relay no problem, then a few weeks after an additional flag appears when I consult the relay search tool to display the data on my relay:
This relay is running a Tor version that is not recommended by the directory authorities and may contain know issues. This includes both obsolete and experimental versions.
The version number used: Tor 0.3.4.9 on Linux
I have already tried to update packages without success via an apt-get update I would not want to have to reinstall my relay entirely.
What is the solution ?
Other questions, can you confirm to me that in case of migration on another server the only key files to preserve are:
- ed_master_id_secret_key - secret_id_key - secret_onion_key_ntor
I tried to copy these keys to another server without success. Are relays associated with the IP address of the server?
Sorry for my english ! thank you in advance for your help
The version number used: Tor 0.3.4.9 on Linux
currently recommended server versions are: 0.2.9.15, 0.2.9.16, 0.2.9.17, 0.3.4.10, 0.3.4.11, 0.3.5.7, 0.3.5.8, 0.4.0.1-alpha, 0.4.0.2-alpha

there is no need to reinstall the relay
What is the solution ?
you didn't say what OS you use but since you mentioned apt-get you are probably running debian or ubuntu. In that case you might want to use the Torproject's Debian packages.
Setup instructions can be found here:
https://www.torproject.org/docs/debian.html.en https://www.torproject.org/relay-guide
Using that repo will give you tor 0.3.5.8 (which is currently recommended)

- ed_master_id_secret_key
- secret_id_key
- secret_onion_key_ntor
simply copy the entire "keys" folder in your DataDirectory and make sure the filesystem permissions are set properly and you should be fine.

Good question - it turns out because of no reason.
Since ancient times I move the fingerprint file with the keys. Because of your question I set up a temporary clone without the old fingerprint file and everything is like it should be. So please let me improve my post like:
And forget the fingerprint file :)
Thanks and a nice weekend for everybody
