If you want to stay with stable releases have a look at the following resolv.conf options:
https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/doc/DnsResolver#Tuningeventdns...
since many seem to be confused about the "nameserver 127.0.0.1" line.
Do not use that line if you are not running a DNS server on your host.
