Rob, When I try to update it tells me that its already the most recent version of tor. My sources list only has the rasperian sources (deb rasperian.raspberrypi.org/ stretch main contrib non-free rpi) I can uncomment "deb-src rasperian.raspberrypi.....) I believe RPi 2 and 3 can use https://www.torproject.org/docs/debian.html.en
Does tor --verify-config -f torrc give any clues?
