Thanks for offering to run a Tor directory authority. I'm quoting Roger here who responded to previous offers made by other people:

The set of directory authorities is chosen not just for reliability but also for community trust. A majority of the directory authorities declare what relays are in the network: https://gitweb.torproject.org/tor.git/blob_plain/HEAD:/doc/v3-authority-howt... https://www.torproject.org/docs/faq#KeyManagement so that means a) we need to know them and trust them, and b) the rest of the Tor community needs to know them and trust them too.
I'm sure you're a nice guy, but you could be the adversary trying to add an evil directory authority.
The best way to fix all of these issues is to join the development community and get involved. You can find us on irc at #tor and #tor-dev on irc.oftc.net. We also meet in person at various conferences throughout the year, such as the upcoming 28c3 congress in Berlin.
In the mean time, don't be disappointed. Being a "normal" relay is really valuable to the network. We don't actually need that many directory authorities to run the network successfully. Right now we have only 8, and things are working well enough.
You'll have to replace "28c3" with "29c3" in that reply, but other than that the reply should still be valid.
Best, Karsten
