Please don't use Google's DNS servers. There is plenty of material in the mailing list archive on why this is a bad idea and alternatives.
Thanks for the advice, i've reverted the dns back to the one supplied by ovh, namely 213.186.33.99

If you are having problems with your provider's DNS servers being unable to handle the query load, you can set up a local caching DNS resolver.
(Then you can direct that resolver to whichever DNS servers you want it to query.)
