Hi all, I have set up a tor relay on my Ubuntu machine by following the
instructions given in the link. To confirm whether the setup was done properly, I checked the status using the command:
$ sudo service tor status
and was getting status as "Active". Further, I looked into the log file /var/log/tor/notices.log using the
command:
$ tail -f /var/log/tor/notices.log
and following was the output:
May 24 18:24:54.000 [notice] Starting with guard context "default" May 24 18:24:54.000 [notice] Bootstrapped 80%: Connecting to the Tor
network
May 24 18:24:54.000 [notice] Signaled readiness to systemd May 24 18:24:55.000 [notice] Guessed our IP address as x.x.x.x (source:
204.13.164.118).
May 24 18:24:55.000 [notice] Bootstrapped 85%: Finishing handshake with
first hop
May 24 18:24:56.000 [notice] Bootstrapped 90%: Establishing a Tor circuit May 24 18:24:59.000 [notice] Tor has successfully opened a circuit. Looks
like client functionality is working.
May 24 18:24:59.000 [notice] Bootstrapped 100%: Done May 24 18:24:59.000 [notice] Now checking whether ORPort x.x.x.x:9001 is
reachable... (this may take up to 20 minutes -- look for log messages indicating success)
May 24 18:44:55.000 [warn] Your server (x.x.x.x:9001) has not managed to
confirm that its ORPort is reachable. Relays do not publish descriptors until their ORPort and DirPort are reachable. Please check your firewalls, ports, address, /etc/hosts file, etc.
Can anyone please help me with this issue? I am not able to figure out the reason behind this error message "Your
server (x.x.x.x:9001) has not managed to confirm that its ORPort is reachable".
Please also let me know if you feel there is any issue with the tor
configuration.
