Usually it's not needed to use faketime. It's only useful if the toolchain has bugs that cannot easily be fixed, causing some timestamps to be inserted somewhere.
+1, using faketime so liberally would just mean there are other, bigger underlying issues (e.g., lack of support for S_D_E...) Cheers! -Santiago.
