Hi Linus,
I know you're just getting started as sysadmin, but I want to check in
with you about something we're hoping to get for support.torproject.org:
a search function. The ticket was temporarily closed since we couldn't
figure out a way to do search:
https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/25322. But maybe you can
help?
Happy to provide more info as needed.
Thanks, Alison

Community Team Lead
The Tor Project
Hi team,
I just wanted to summarise the discussion that we had during the last community team meeting to finish off the community team visioning exercise.
During this session we concentrated on discussing where we see the community team in 2 years time:
- We want to concentrate on developing our networks within a number of specific countries in the Global South where we have already been working and have contacts. We imagine that these countries would include two in LatAm, one in South Asia,…
[View More] and one in east Africa.
- We agreed that an important pre-requisite in order for this to happen would be to have a funded full-time volunteer coordinator and team lead in order to become a more accessible, diverse, and volunteer-rich team. Part of this would involve developing a set of internal team workflows to allow us to easily and painlessly scale our volunteer base and keep volunteer engagement high.
- We also spoke about the positive effects of having Tor Community members present at meetups and community events in those countries to introduce Tor to new people.
- We discussed the opportunity to expand our networks within universities and the potential to find a large volunteer base willing to help out in exchange for course credits.
Next, we tried to answer the question of where we see the Tor Project in 2 years time and how we, as a community team, can help to achieve this vision for the project. This is something that we would like everyone on this list to think about and share on this thread.
One of the items that was discussed around this topic was the desire for Tor Project to become more accessible to everyone both as users and volunteers, not just those with a technical background. This includes for everyone to have access to the resources they need to enable them to have a high level of security online.
Finally, we discussed the types of groups and organisations we want to expose Tor Project to in future. We re-iterated the possibility of getting more universities and students involved as well as hacklabs and local activist groups. We expressed a preference for involving a larger number of smaller, grass-roots organisations as well as student groups, not just in Computer Science to spread our audience and message wider.
Thank you to everyone that participated in these exercises. We will take this input and collectively try to condense this further in order to come up with a number of sentences that define our vision for the next 2 years. This will help us to have a clear idea of what we want to achieve when applying for funding.
You can find the full meeting log here: http://meetbot.debian.net/tor-meeting/2019/tor-meeting.2019-02-25-15.59.log…
Feel free to carry on the discussion in this email thread.
Thanks again!

Hi everyone,
We briefly discussed who should we make sure is invited to the Dev Meeting in Stockholm this July during the meeting. However, I’m sending this email out also, as there were some people missing and to give everyone time to think of some more names.
Please send me your suggestions by the end of next week (Friday 8th March) directly instead of replying to the list.
Thanks!

Hi Team,
Let’s do a brainstorm next week about where we see the Tor Community and the Tor Community Team going and where we want to be in the near future. This will help us both to prioritise our work and decide on the best funding opportunities for us.
I propose that we do this during next week’s Community Team meeting (Monday 11th February @ 16:00 UTC) after everyone is done with their updates. I hope you will all be able to attend.
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
Monday is a holiday in the United States, which means Tor is closed. So
we won't have a community team meeting. See you the week after!
