Static site generators that can handle large sites easily:

* Gostatic: https://github.com/piranha/gostatic (0.3s for 250 pages)
* Pacbot: https://github.com/olav/pacbot (Has two modes, dev and build, dev
is faster and on-the-fly, while build processes everything and neatly
packages files)

However, I have experience with neither.
