  Bingo.  A lot of sites take ten forevers to fully load because they're
using a free site template that uses a lot of images, or (say) wordpress
with a theme from their repository.

  There's probably a case to be made for image-blocking extensions enabled
by default.  I used to have an extension enabled, and the speed gains on
hidden services were enormous.
