Alternatively, they could neutralize a few people at random to scare
everybody else out of joining in (and possibly frighten people who are
actually active into making mistakes that out themselves).  It has
been postulated that at least some of the narcobloggers in Mexico who
were killed and mutilated last year were not actually involved in
narcoblogging, but were murdered under false pretense as part of such
a strategy.

But I shut up now, enough speculation.
