That article mentions OS X / Linux, but I don't know that the issue of 
Tor using other random ports (in the FAQ) does NOT apply also to Windows?

Is there any security / anonymity difference, if Tor or TBB uses ports 
other than 9050?  e.g., 127.0.0.1:6xxxx

If I have say, Thunderbird configured to use the Tor (TBB) proxy - 
127.0.0.1:9050, then that's what my FW - network monitor shows it's 
using.  But shows TBB / Tor are using other ports.
Mostly still on local 127.0.0.1, but not port 9050.  With another 
application configured to use Tor (or no other apps using Tor), Tor also 
uses a few "regular" IP addresses, in ADDITION to 127.0.0.1:xxxxx 
addresses; probably DNS lookup, or similar.
