I get things like this in my log:

Mar 2 16:00:50 stbmac Tor[12637]: Our directory information is no
longer up-to-date enough to build circuits.\n
Mar 2 16:07:59 stbmac Tor[12637]: I learned some more directory
information, but not enough to build a circuit.\n
Mar 2 16:38:37 stbmac Tor[12637]: I learned some more directory
information, but not enough to build a circuit.\n
Mar 2 17:09:00 stbmac Tor[12637]: I learned some more directory
information, but not enough to build a circuit.\n
Mar 2 17:39:30 stbmac Tor[12637]: I learned some more directory
information, but not enough to build a circuit.\n
Mar 2 18:10:00 stbmac Tor[12637]: I learned some more directory
information, but not enough to build a circuit.\n
Mar 2 18:10:36 stbmac Tor[12637]: Catching signal TERM, exiting cleanly.\n

When I kill tor, and restart it, it gets directory information instantly.

This is 7-alpha. Oh, and if it makes a difference,
Enabling experimental OS X kqueue support with libevent 1.2a. If this
turns out to not work, set the environment variable EVENT_NOKQUEUE,
and tell the Tor developers.
