[Apologies for the double post - wrong button]

My Dlink modem crashes quite repeatedly, though I think thats a
combination of the modem not liking even small fluctuations in the
input power supply and a cheap power pack. Certainly it doesnt make me
ever want to buy Dlink products again - I've setup their wifi routers
for a few people and have had nothing but problems.

If you're not sure about setting up Linux/BSD yourself, try one of the
'router' distros like smoothwall [http://www.smoothwall.org]. Comes
with a nice web interface very similar to most embedded routers, but
with more options (and you can always ssh in to do command-line stuff
if you want). Certainly more fun if you're not used to iptables etc. I
set this up for a friend on an old P1 90mhz IBM Aptiva and its been
working fine for over a year now.

Hope this helps.
