Work completed by the Pearl Crescent team during August 2016
(Kathy Brade and Mark Smith):

* Tor Browser and Torbutton:

This month we worked on the following ticket and its child tickets:
  "Make Tor Browser work with Unix Domain Socket option"
  https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/14270
We made a lot of progress, but not all of the work is done.

We also removed a lot of old code from Torbutton while working on the
following ticket:
  "Remove/synchronize Torbutton SOCKS pref logic"
  https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/15852

We fixed the following annoyance:
  "Maximizing Tor Browser Notification can exist multiple times"
  https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/19906

We helped the Tor Messenger team with some updater and packaging issues
related to the Tor Browser patches that they adopted.

Also, we helped with bug triage and completed code reviews for
tickets # 19528 and 19995.

* Tor Browser Updater:

We finally found a fix for this problem:
  "Creating incremental MAR files for the hardened builds is broken"
  https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/17858

We made some small improvements to the page that is displayed after Tor
Browser is updated:
  "Make text stand out in about:tbupdate"
  https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/19336

  "Put Tor Browser and version on the upper right of the changelog
   page too"
  https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/19835

And we fixed an issue that occurred because of changes in the
HTTPS Everywhere packaging:
  "fix MAR file generation to account for packed HTTPS Everywhere"
  https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/20040

* Miscellaneous Activities:
We participated in the weekly Tor Browser meetings on IRC, we monitored
other meetings, and we participated in various design discussions on IRC
as well as on the mailing lists.

We enjoyed a week off at the beginning of August. Mark spent the time
backpacking on Isle Royale (highly recommended for those who enjoy a
wilderness experience):
 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_Royale_National_Park

* Planned for September:
  - Continue to work on Unix domain socket support (#14270 and
    child tickets).

  - Work on other SponsorU tickets. See:
https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/query?status=!closed&sponsor=SponsorU

  - Mark will attend the Seattle Dev Meeting during the last week
   of September.

  - As time permits, work on Tor Browser, Tor Launcher, and Torbutton
    usability issues and "loose ends" such as:
      #17891 (Window classes change after update restart)
      #18292 (staged updates fail on Windows).
      #18913 (about:tor should not have chrome privileges)
      #18367 and #18369 (side-by-side storage for Windows and Linux)
