[tor-reports] Trip report though Asia

I traveled through India, Thailand, Burma and Hong Kong in November and
December (2012) with some people.

The trip in India was mostly focused on meeting the Tibetian government
in exile, Tibetan monks, and finally attending the Dalai Lama's
teachings as well as meeting HHDL himself.

The trip in Burma was split between Yangoon and Naypyidaw. We met with a
number of interesting people from Aung San Suu Kyi to the guy who
brought in Blue Coat devices. It was a strange trip to say the least. A
longer report on the Burma is pending and will be the most informative
report written in public, I think.

Some of the ooniprobe Burma data is online:

More data is on the way. No analysis has been done beyond the most
obvious first pass. Burma has a lot of censorship unless you're on a
privileged government network. I talked with some ICT ministers about
this and they were aware of the class issues present in their networked
authoritarianism.

I did ooniprobe scans in Thailand in the southern islands.
I also did some ooniprobe scans in Honk Kong.

All in all the trip was pretty disruptive to my general working schedule
but very important. I didn't contract malaria and I was mostly healthy
for the entire trip. Except the few times that I was deathly ill and
burned out.

All the best,
Jacob
