Hi,

I've been really bad at writing public status reports due to ill health
and being overworked. I'm trying to correct my pattern. I have been sick
for about a month, I hope to improve soon.

In October, I did a lot of stuff relating to a variety of projects:

* Defense of Liberty Award by the Austrian Big Brother Awards
 * I accepted on behalf of everyone at Tor and a much larger community

* OONI + MLab integration discussions in Brussels
 * We're making progress but it is slow going

* Lots of discussions with the main OONI sponsor
 * I helped them to select some security auditors
 * Lots of other misc discussions, logistics, etc

* TorBirdy improvements - TorBirdy is getting popular:
 * https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/torbirdy/statistics

* tlsdate version 0.2 was tagged and released
 * tlsdate version 0.3 is nearly ready for release also
 * Lots of tlsdate patches are coming from Google hackers

* basic xmpp-client OTR ui improvements
 * We need a type safe implementation of OTR and xmpp
 * We have a simple console client that isn't libpurple/pidgin/finch!

* Martus and Tor integration; some Tails related work
  * Most of this happened in South Africa

* Various public speaking engagements - highlights include:
  * TEDxFlanders
  * A panel at the London Frontline Club
  * BigBrother awards in Vienna, Austria
  * Elevate in Graz, Austria

* libpurple/pidgin auditing
  * I advised a few groups about sending funding/audit love upstream
  * I need to report some bugs I've found upstream

* Traveling for meetings, speaking engagements, etc.
  * Belgium, Holland, England, Ireland, Canada, South Africa
  * Germany, Austria, United States

* Spoke extensively with the BIJ/CIJ about partnering with Tor
  * We should reach out to them about Journalism related help
  * They're located in London - anyone want to take them up?

I've just finished a long meeting with Tactical Tech in Ireland. It
started at the end of October and lasted just under a week. We worked on
a lot of exciting stuff. We hope to also expand on some of these meeting
issues soon. Not the least of which is expanding Security In A Box and
also starting a website/group that reviews, expands, audits and
understands the tools in use.

In November, I have travel/meetings in South America, India and Asia. I
will be on the road for the entire month and well into December. I plan
to do a bunch of OONI work as well as to improve TorBirdy and tlsdate.

All the best,
Jake
