When placing nodes in a family is appropriate

So as I understand it, nodes listed under the MyFamily option in torrc
will not be used to build a circuit when connecting to the Tor
network. I can understand why this would be useful when running
several relays on the same network, as this helps ensure dispersal,
but what about when a person is running two nodes on completely
separate networks?

For example, Japnonymous and Japnonymous2 are currently in this
situation, separated by half a state and not sharing any resources. Is
there any advantage (or disadvantage) to keeping them in a family
together? Just curious.
