The bug is in popt - a simple apt-get install popt breaks this on my 
machine as well. I installed the latest version last week so I think a 
patch must have gone out that breaks this.

Have to go out now but will check the popt source later on.
It could need some extra explanation that 0.0 is OK or it could just be a 
plain bug.
