 We tested by:
 1. Backing out Richard's original patch for #31764 (commit
 59d89229b68f8fbaa46e910a9bd03a6b26e8403e on tor-browser-68.4.1esr-9.5-1).
 2. Building on Linux and then confirming that the original bug did occur.
 3. Applying the patch from comment:5 (backport of Mozilla's fix).
 4. Rebuilding and verifying that the original problem has disappeared
 again.

 We also need to remember to drop Richard's original patch when we merge
 this one.
