 > Not sure whether an HTML placeholder would work here. The input field
already contains default values that the user can edit. I guess the ask is
to explain the date format when people edit the dates.

We're already using an HTML placeholder here, but that only appears when
the user clears the input. So, doesn't solve the issue.

 > A tooltip might work. What's the HTML for adding one, again?

Looks like we'd have to use JavaScript for this. Not a big issue, because
having this tooltip is not essential for using the website. But not the
 best solution, IMO.

 > Another option could be to write "Start date (YYYY-MM-DD):" as field
 label.

I tried that, and it doesn't look as nice with a max width of 100px. And
I'd rather abstain from hacking our CSS.

Okay, I put this in. It solves the issue. Let's try it out. And if it has
any downsides, we'll probably hear about them from our users.

 > Please choose one! :)

Done. Please let me know if this was the wrong choice. Closing.
