 It has been implemented:

 (in late 2017)

 The online manual that you're looking at is a snapshot in time, from the
 past, originally put up for the benefit of the Windows users who can't run
 "man tor" themselves. I've just opened #32863 to remind the Tor devs to
 get a new web version of the manual up somewhere.
