 Here's a branch using the toolbar icons from comment:8.

 I needed separate icons for off/on/running, so I selected the icons with
 the white background, and made off=gray, on=purple, running=turquoise. As
 noted in comment:11, there was no turquoise icon originally, so I made one
 by editing the SVG and setting the color
 [https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%2340E0D0 #40E0D0], which was the color of the
 old status-running.svg image.

 I similarly updated status-running.svg to match the other redesigned icons
 from comment:3. The old one was tilted by 22.5° while the images from
 comment:3 are upgright. I didn't do separate status-running.svg and
 status-running-dark.svg, but there could be separate light and dark images
 if needed. It would only require changing a line of CSS to use.

 The toolbar-running icon, with its color of !#40E0D0 looks too light for
 me, against the white background. We could choose different colors for it.
 I only made it like it is because the toolbar icons from comment:8 were
 missing a "running" icon.
