 i've done a quick analysis of the situation and I found the following:

  * load on the server is normal, and all resources seem okay
  * the UI seems to be stuck in an endless ping/pong loop

 it looks something like this:

 ... and gets stuck there forever. i have tried rebooting the machine, that
 didn't improve the situation.
