 I think they are implying (*) that we're storing way too many old entries
 in the storagedir, and so the number of diffs we compute every hour is
 growing without bound?  In theory this shouldn't actually be happening,
 though, since we're supposed to be only computing diffs to entries within
 a certain time range.  (We should check to make sure we're actually doing
 that.)


 (*) Please, if when posting an explanation for a bug, try to actually
 explain what you think is happening, in as much detail as you can.  Things
 are never as obvious to other people as they are to you.
