 PR branch updated again!
 "dropped" the `--no-ff` merge commit, 9 commits added, then force-pushed.
 (Everything else the same. This shares a common base of
 `b47ea8edacdff2d4a3644e95af9c40a6c3536a5d`, so everything after that is
 new.)

 This adds these from [comment:2 comment 2]:
