 Yeah, this should go in, especially the diagnostics. I'm not ''wholly''
 convinced the fix will actually fix this bug, since (in my experience) I
 believe I was hitting this bug while in the process of constructing a
 (loose-source) circuit, but nonetheless it's a good theory and the fix is
 a logical thing to do even if it doesn't end up fixing this bug entirely.
