 Thank you, and thanks for making it even smaller!

 I've made a new child ticket (#22325) for tracking the bridge bug in
 particular. In that ticket, I've merged this patch and marked it for
 backport to 0.3.0.  I'll leave this one open for the non-bridge-using
 case.
