 I proposed a patch for
 [https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/19450 #19450]. Once
 merged, it will no longer be possible to compile Tor with bufferevents.
 The proposed patch only removes the --enable-bufferevents option. Dead
 code will remain.
