 I think it might be useful to have some proposal-like thing that walks us
 through what went wrong, and why the above behavior will resolve the thing
 that went wrong.

 At least for my current state, we have a bug that I don't fully
 understand, and a set of guidelines, and there's still some space in the
 middle.
