Comment (by xuhadk):

 So doing a little more testing, I've found that running tor 0.2.5.12-3
 (the default) from raspberry pi's repos does NOT crash tor. It runs fine.

 Given this, I tried running tor from the tor-experimental-0.2.9.x-jessie
 repo, yet it gives the same segfault.

 However inspecting the coredump this time gives an error in _start ():

 {{{
 For help, type "help".
 Type "apropos word" to search for commands related to "word"...
 Reading symbols from tor...(no debugging symbols found)...done.
 [New LWP 6047]
 [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]
 Using host libthread_db library "/lib/arm-linux-
 gnueabihf/libthread_db.so.1".
 Core was generated by `tor'.
 Program terminated with signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
 #0  0x7f5bf576 in _start ()
 (gdb) bt
 #0  0x7f5bf576 in _start ()
 (gdb) q
 }}}

 I believe this and the original errors are related, though odd it's
 crashing in a different method now. I have attached this new coredump as
 well.
