Comment:

 Okay, we go with 4) it seems. Only Ubuntu 12.04 is affected which ships
 git 1.7.9.5. Debian Wheezy is already fine (shipping git with version
 1.7.10.4). I'll file a ticket for updating our LXC machine to Ubuntu 14.04
 once we are confident this approach is really the way to go and the patch
 got merged.
