Comment:

 Changes from this ticket cause the Window build on Jenkins to fail.
 Attached are two patches which should fix the issues mentioned in the
 Jenkins logs.

 The commit messages in the patches should speak for themselves.

 These patches were only tested on Linux (Ubuntu) with `make test`.
