Comment:

 Ok, fixed this. I committed a minor sin an just pushed the changes without
 bothering to pester anyone for review. The fix was simple enough. I just
 relocated the code that hides it to the rest of the code that controls the
 menu popup items' visibility (torbutton_check_protections()).
