Comment:

 This issue was caused by a combination of a bright text colour (9ad100),
 with an opacity of 50%.  To fix, I changed the font colour to a darker
 shade of green (1e6419) and setting opacity to 75%.  For the uncommon
 occasions where the text is at 100% opacity, the new green is still
 distinct and looks great.
