Comment:

 This patch looks good to me. However, I'd like to test that before merging
 which means we need to fix the other parts first, especially patching
 `update_responses` accordingly which is why this ticket needs revision.
 Assigning this back to mcs for the time being as I am not sure who'll work
 on these parts.
