Comment:

 Having looked over the code[*], and tried to find a good use case to
 justify this code with Tor, I think we should take a pass on merging
 unless there's some major point here that we're not seeing.

 For nearly all use-cases, it's probably better to recommend that users use
 socat with appropriate options.

 [*] BTW, you should know that "char" could be signed or unsigned, so doing
 tor_malloc(reply_buf[0]) is potentially disastrous.
