 I tried downgrading both ibus and dbus, and there is no change; i.e.,
 everything continues to work now.

 I tried all combinations of different versions. When I changed ibus, I did
 `ibus exit` and then `ibus-daemon --xim`. When I changed dbus, I did
 `/etc/init.d/dbus restart`. I restarted the browser for each test.

 I don't know. I might have been something else that changed that made
 things start working for me.
