 I see what you mean. But the problem is that when we disable TorBirdy, we
 have to clear out everything, which means clearing all custom settings.

 If what you are trying to do here is to disable TorBirdy temporarily to
 access some account that you don't to over Tor, have you looked at
 wiki:torbirdy/preferences#a-TransparentTorification option?
